Yes, the "good" elder is pretty new. Only been an elder for about 2 years, baptized in the '90's maybe in his late 30's or early 40's. He looks up to the other elders, kinda like "I don't know, I'm just the new guy." This might be his first JC. He's rather smart but fooled by the innocent looking facade of the org. I believe that he honestly thinks the elders will be fair toward us. I think this experience will change him.

There seems to be nothing objectionable about the lyrics themselves but it is the source. I guess some demon came up to annie Lennox and said, "Hey, you're a famous musican aren't you? from time to time we hear that the ex jws should have organised themselves to a high level and that doesn't necessarily mean setting up another religion in opposition to the wts but some sort of rather secular organisation to carry out that task.
no doubt this lack of organisation plays in the hands of the wts who escape the nightmare of a highly organised efficient opposition.
the rough treatment of ex members in my opinion is intentional and aims at emotionally stunning them to pre empt the possibility of them having a clear mind with which to fight their fraudulent, cultic objectives.

in this territory it will mean 'inviting' people to a religious convention about 200 miles away, about a religion that most already do not care about.

Just about everybody (except for the kiss-ass types) in my congregation last year thought the invitations were stupid. Even the bookstudy conductor, while making F/S arrangements said he didn't like the idea. Maybe it would be an ok idea for local congregations in the city the convention was being held to distribute invitiations. That kind of makes sence. Utterly retarded to invite people who live 2.5 hours away.
